Shah A Sarwar

Managing Director & CEO

Shah A Sarwar joined Trust Bank Limited as Managing Director & CEO on  22 November 2009. He started his career as Management Trainee of ANZ Grindlays Bank in 1982.

Over the last 29 years, Mr. Sarwar's career evolved as a well rounded banker with adequate exposure in General Management, Revenue Growth, Client Acquisition, Risk Management, and Operations Management.  He held various senior management positions in multinational and private commercial banks such as Managing Director & CEO of Premier Bank Limited and Industrial Promotion & Development Company of Bangladesh Ltd (IPDC), Additional Managing Director of United Commercial Bank Ltd, Senior Director and COO of American Express Bank Ltd, Head of Special Asset Management in Standard Chartered Bank, and Country Credit Manager in ANZ Grindlays Bank.

In addition to his distinctive track record as a leader in the financial sector, he has core expertise in strategic Credit Risks Management, Business Process Reengineering, Creation of new Lines of Business, Change Management, and Automation Project Management. He led the first banking automation project in Bangladesh for ANZ Gindlays Bank in 1984 and transformed manual and semi-manual systems to fully automated environment. He has optimum exposure & training in all areas of Banking with international stints in Australia, London, Hong Kong, Dubai, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Pakistan. He is a Six Sigma Black Belt and certified in Credit Accreditation Process, International Trade Skill Assessment, Credit Skill Assessment and Credit in Context Course. With a distinctive academic track record he holds MSS degree with Honors in Economics from the University of Dhaka and MBA from Victoria University, Australia. He is all round best cadet gold medal recipient of Fauzdarhat Cadet College and National Debate Champion. Mr. Sarwar takes keen interest in Paintings, Classical Music, Literature and the game of Golf. He is a member of the Board of Trustee of World Literature Centre (Bishwo Shahitto Kendro), Dhaka.

Mr. Sarwar is married to former development banker Perveen Sarwar. His elder daughter is an Yale University graduate and currently working for Citi Investment Bank Hong Kong and the younger daughter is studying IB at Mahindra United World College of India.

Ishtiaque Ahmed Chowdhury

Deputy Managing Director

Mr. Ishtiaque Ahmed Chowdhury joined Trust Bank Limited on October 14, 2003 as Senior Executive Vice President. Recently he has been promoted to the rank of Deputy Managing Director of the Trust Bank Ltd.

After completing his M.A. & LLB from Dhaka University, Mr. Chowdhury began his banking career as Probationary Officer in Rupali Bank in the year 1977. He switched over to Arab Bangladesh Bank Ltd. in the year 1984 as Senior Officer and worked there till September 2002. During his long tenure in Arab Bangladesh Bank Limited. Mr. Chowdhury worked as Manager to different branches of ABBL and as Chief Manager to ABBL kawran Bazar Corporate Branch & Motijheel corporate branch, Dhaka.

Prior to joining ot the The Trust Bank Ltd. Mr. Chowdhury was Executive Vice President & Regional Manager of four mid city branches of The Oriental Bank Limited. Mr. Chowdhury attended many training and seminars on banking issues in house & abroad.
